Modern Use Tests have confirmed jinyingzi's ability to reduce the frequency of urination as well as an ability to lower cholesterol and lipoproteins in laboratory animals.
Traditional Use Jinyingzi, the Golden Cherry fruit, is sour and neutral in nature, entering the kidney, bladder and large intestine meridians. It is used for stabilising the kidneys and retaining the vital essence. It prevents the leakage of fluids, including urinary incontinence and a frequent need to urinate, and is also able to bind the intestines, stopping diarrhea and dysentery.

Modern Use Jinyinhua has been used satisfactorily to treat patients with appendicitis, mastitis, common colds and flu, and to prevent upper respiratory tract infections.
Traditional Use Known in English as honeysuckle, jinyinhua is a sweet and cooling herb that enters the lung, stomach and large intestine meridians. It is used to clear heat, relieve the body of toxins and expel wind heat, as well as treat diarrhea and dysentery caused by toxic heat. It is a useful herb to treat people in the early stages of a fever.
Origin and Sources From the flower bud of Lonicera japonica Thunb., or a few species under same genus, family Caprifoliaceae.
